Most families lose their photographs slowly — a dead phone, an unpaid cloud subscription, a drive nobody plugged in for six years. Archiving is not a technical hobby; it is the whole point.

The 3-2-1 rule, in plain language

  • Three copies of everything.
  • On two different kinds of storage.
  • One of them somewhere else entirely.
  • Check that the offsite copy actually restores. Once a year. Really.
